What a few weeks can do to a tree !!

The maple looks so much different now it is in full leaf, rather than when I saw it Christmas eve-eve.

I was fortunate enough to be at the collection late in the afternoon to see the graft being removed.

I think I have a few pics I took with you and the guys working on it while I was there.

Would it be ok If I posted them ?

Look forward seeing the collection again in a few days time.

Regards,

Paul C.

Hi Matt,

This tree, in comparison with our other japanese maples, grew so strongly this last year that it hung onto its leaves that were bright green until just a week ago and is now changing color with the very cold nights we are having.

I heard on the radio this morning that we are having the coldest May in 50 years.

Thanks,

Next year I will experiment with the partial defoliation method as described in the Maple Theory thread.

Hi Luke,

The tree is part of the national collection and so will be on display daily hopefully for hundreds of years to come but not for sale.

I am lucky that i get to work on these trees as part of my daily work

Here is a picture taken by Leigh. Not too bad; and the tree as well.

The tree will be at its peak colour wise over the weekend so if you are in Canberra I would recommend a visit just to see this tree.

Hi all,

We had a visit today from the original artist of this Japanese maple
Original artist Pam with the Maple.JPG
She also discussed a Juniper with the current owner Jim
Jim and Pam discussing another of her trees.JPG
We are getting lots of visitation now at the new site.
