G'day All

I have updated the post 1925 Bougainvillea on the Blog. I have added the story of the tree and some progressive photos of what I do with this tree. You can find it at https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/blog/TonyBe ... ainvillea/

I am preparing this tree for entry into the WBFF photo contest, and have fiddled with some lighting and taken a new shot of the tree. I thought I could put it here, but uploads don't wotk in this forum.

Feel free to let me know what you think. This tree is my avatar pic on AB

This is beautiful Tony! :tu:
That new back branch is growing quickly! I really like what you did with the rocks...looks far better than the moss to me :tu2:
Thanks for the tip on getting the branches/newish shoots to set when only requiring a slight angle change or bend.
Cheers, Dario. :)
PS interested in the finger bending technique you use on the willow leaf fig (sorry that Q is not Bougy related).

That looks beautiful, Tony sure for a place in the Magazine.

What I use for lighting, is outside in natural light, it is better on an over cast day, as you can see in some of my photos, when the sun is out you can get shadows.

Good luck mate.

Cheers Pup

Thanks Guys

Have done some photos outside, and agree overcast is better. Problem is most of my work gets done at night, so have set up a spot in the workshop. Just making do with different light sources to try and get different effects. Just a novice having some fun :lost:

A new post added on a Saikei I did a while ago that is need of refurbishment.

I am looking at replacing the second 'Island' and I have put some choices there. Check it out and let me know if there is an option you prefer. Just leave a omment at the end of the post.

Hi All

A couple of new posts on the blog. One about a Yatsabusa Pine I was given a few years back.
3July2012 (Medium).JPG
And a Cypress with some radical trunk movement, but unfortunately a couple of strong straight sections.

This tree will be styled in a demonstration at Bimer Bonsai Club here in Brisbane this Saturday 7th July, and I will post the outcome during the next week on the blog. What do you think you would do with it?

I would have only one tight, triangular apex just to the right of that current jin (top photo) and shape and jin the rest above it. Just one option. :tu2: I wish I knew how to do virts! One day.

Demo done at Bimer and pretty happy with the initial results. See how time pans out. Full story on the blog, but here is the result.

I have worked on the Multi Trunk Fig also over the last few days, but there are a lot of photos to process. I will have the results up in the next few days, and get the 360 photos off to the team.

Happy Bonsai

Hi All

Well as I said I git into the Multi Fig and have wired every branch down to secondaries and some tertiary branching. Roughly 8 hours pruning and wiring time over 3 days. Some of the branches will still need the length pruned, but I have tried to leave as many shoots as possible so the tree will not stop growing.

The full story and picture essay is on the blog here https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/blog/TonyBe ... velopment/

Check it out and let me know what you think, either here or on the blog.

Incredible Tony, it has that dynamic Taiwanese look to it.

I sincerely look forward to its progression.

Thanks VS

The quality of the Taiwanese Figs has certainly been the inspiration for this one. They are magnificent.

Still a way to go yet.
