Re: [KCPOOLE] Ficus Celebense
Update pics from the weekend.
The approach graft is developing well, but have no idea if it will have taken by comp end so
Apex and right hand branch are Ramifying quite well and the foliage seems to like being reduced so that is a definite plus
Still no one has come up with a different variety that might fit, so still staying with the species it was labelled as.

Hi Ken,
This one is going along nicely and toward your design too.
I think you are going to have a fun time fighting the leaves
Cheers.

Re: [KCPOOLE] Ficus Celebense
Here are my final Shots for the competition.
Repotted last night into a Pat Kennedy pot i purchased last year at the Goulburn show, and Photographed this afternoon.
The tree has developed quite well over the year and a bit. It has definite plan to continue with and over the next year or 2 should fill out with a full canopy as I envisaged.
I am a little disapointed I did not get any back budding on the trunk to use as a back branch, and the one i have trained back will work I think, but unfortunately has take too long to develop and after cutting back a month ago has not shot back with any new growth as yet. Late in the summer it should look much nicer
Good luck to all still in the Comp and hope your trees are looking great, and continue to improve with age .

G'day Ken,
The final submissions must include a photo with a ruler standing next to your tree to verify the size.
Nice presentation by the way!
Regards,
Steven

how is the fig doing?
I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

Re: [KCPOOLE] Ficus Celebense
Doing very well actually slowly filling out where it needs to
This species seems to be quite slow and fairly reluctant to back bud onto old wood. Getting lower branches is quite problematic.

Re: [KCPOOLE] Ficus Celebense
The development continues, with the Branching and foliage filling out slowly. The second branch on the right needs to extend and have its foliage fill up the space above the first branch there.
All the new growth will be wired soon to keep in the desired shape.
The tree is in Full sun with fertilzing continuing thru the winter as growth for me continues year round,

Definityly Not PJ, the leaves are quite different shape and it does not like to back shoot unlike them.
Have not see QSL in the flesh so cannot compare.
