Never seen Juniper
Hi everybody, I need some on this Juniper (if), I made some trip to the mountain and showed some friends from Egypt around and came across a private resort property there I saw this tree. About 20m hight, very beautiful foliage. I took a branch home and hope the clips will start rooting. If so I will go back there at a later stage and ask to Air Layer a branch. The way the foliage falls is awesome and I think it would make a great tree in the future.

Re: Never seen Juniper
Hi Andreas,
Are you sure it is a Juniper?
It could be a Western Red Cedar?

Black Knight

Re: Never seen Juniper
I think this tree may be Cupressus cashmeriana, Kashmir Cypress or Bhutan Cypress. Small to medium tree with upright older branches and pendulous smaller branches. Leaves are often iridescent blue green in flattened sprays.

Oh yes, very nice! The cuts of the Kashmir Cypress doing good so far, hope they start rooting. I will go there again in a few weeks and ask wherever I can do air layer a bigger branch, hope they give me permission to do so. If it works out I will start a post. Thank you for sharing.

Re: Never seen Juniper
Beautiful tree and not one that I am familiar with.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: Never seen Juniper
How did you go with the cuttings? And did you try an air layer? I have a large specimen out the front of my house and I been considering whether it would be worth trying cuttings or a layer or if I should try germinating seeds.
Thank you
Tristan

Re: Never seen Juniper
I was in Bunnings again today (my wife reckons I should get frequent Bunnings points ) and I saw a couple of these in the gardening section, about $12 for one 50 cm tall in a 15 cm pot. I may have to go back and get that so I can experiment if it grows successfully here.
