[KCPOOLE] Juniper lutchuensis
Purchased from Squizzy ( ok I still need to give him money as he had no change last week) - He go from a wholesale nurey on the northern beaches
Cost - $6
Size - 100mm or so, Cascade about 100mm
I spied one of these on Sqizzies bench at school a few weeks ago and thought it very bloody nice (tm) juniper and asked if there were any more. If so can he get one please
he brought 2 last week and Staven commandeered one for himself ( he was there first,so I guess that is fair )
Anyway a nice little tree and lovely soft foliage. It will be very interesting to see how this develops over the lenght of the comp

Re: [KCPOOLE] Juniper lutchuensis
Took this one to School last night to work on while the jusdging was taking place.
It has lots of new buds on it so hopefully wi9ll back bud a bit which will be nice:-)
Scraped back the soil to find out the base of the trunk has a nice flare on it and to see how deep it might be, so i can then determine if i could keep the low branch.
Decided to remove it and any other useless foliage and branches, then wire the cascade and some top foliage / branching up as an apex.
Left as much foliage as I could though.
Cut back the root ball this morning by about 1/2, and then potted up into wider squat pot and tilted a little more.
Back on the bench now and will get seasol now and fert in a few weeks to get it moving as much as possible over winter and into spring.

Can I ask which nursery they were bought from?
Wouldn't mind grabbing one or two.

Squizz got them from a wholesaler on the north shore somewhere.MacGuyver wrote:Can I ask which nursery they were bought from?

Hope he might pop in and see this and add them. Failing that, send him a PM and ask

Re: [KCPOOLE] Juniper lutchuensis
Cut back hard and cleaned it out, now have lots of new shoots to develop
Like most juniper, they back shoot in the Branch junctions so you have to cut back a branch and then let it reshoot from the base if you want to force growth further in.

Re: [KCPOOLE] Juniper lutchuensis
Repotted into a Cascade pot purchased at the Goulbourn show.
Not going to be the final pot but one uses what you have on hand. I like it and the tree needed a pot so in it went
I was admiring Squizzy's own one of these on Tuesday night and we were discussing the slowness to thicken the small branches.
That may mean that the small cascade gets removed in the future and make a semi from this one but we will give it a chance before making that decision.

Nice little tree ken but maybe you should consider letting it grow without trimming for a few months so it gains strength?
