Old Man Fig

Post by anthonyW »

This fig is probably my oldest at around 65 years old, could be older, but at the end of the day they say it is what you do with them that really makes you look at them.

So looking at this fig the old guy is on his knees back bent over but definitely not giving up with all the vigour and growth...lol

As you can see the old beast and very wild at that, but interesting and only nature can come up with these unique trunks most of the times...cost me penny and some mind you.

So here is its journey and a change of direction half way through thanks to another great fig gentleman and friend Jerry Meislik...cheers

Jerry thought better character this side and I thought that too after another good look if I could get the nearest arm /branch down....after time got it down and set....thanks Jerry

Once the structure is roughly in place just let it go unhindered to get it nice and wide in all directions.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Little update

Seems to moving in the right direction...hoping to put a lot more width on in time.

Now due for a little nip and tuck(tidy and balance)and then hopefully one more growth spurt before it shuts down....cheers

Nice work Anthony,

IMO, you have taken an ordinary tree and turned it into a beauty.
