At times pictures give away the location and identity of a person as well. You'll be surprised how these pictures can be used to gather details about a person and then their bonsai's targeted for theft.

My lack of activity on this forum is due to the complexity of uploading pics. I take pics on my camera. I then have to upload this to photobucket via my computer, resize them and then place individual links onto a thread. I wish it could be made simpler. Like tapatalk but on desktop with multiple pic upload and automatic resizing. If mods could come up with a way that would be great.

Does this mean that every pic I've uploaded straight from my mobile phone has not been seen?

Generally I have little interest in taking photos of my trees so usually have little to post. I really enjoy the forum and learn a lot from the many experienced people here who so generously offer their advice. Like many I seem to have become increasingly time poor over the years which doesn't help.

Taking photos is time consuming, But myself I like to take one or 2 of each tree every year to keep track of the development of them.
I usually post a progression thread here for each to show the members the deveploment over time. I think people enjoy them when they are updated and I am constantly amazed when I do look back on where they started.

I agree the time poorness bites every now and again, Usually kids sport, gets in the way

I support membership to view photos. It's the reason I joined years ago. I'm not as active in posting these days, my time is short like many others, but I still check in and enjoy the forums though more as a lurker recently. Need to post some updated content.
Cheers, Karl

Hi There

While we are on the subject of up loading pictures.

I have just tried to upload photo's and need to go through the process of creating another file list for Ausbonsai as I have to resize the photos taken by the Cannon 6D to be uploaded.

I'm not bagging the site far from it as it is a great platform to promote the hobby. :tu:

I was just thinking that maybe the program needs revisiting to keep up with the changes that take place with the passing of time in the world of computers etc. I know that this will be a biggie and not easy.

I noticed that someone mentioned about dragging and dropping multiple files when uploading, there is another local bonsai forum that had a recent complete up date that allows this as well as accepting larger file capacity for the modern cameras that have 35mm full frame capacity.

Just my :2c: worth on the topic.

There's a problem with really big files, they can't be seen or loaded easily for many people on slow connections, and they add alarmingly to data download for those who are on limits.

If you have a Canon 6D then you're also likely to have a graphics program to resize your images, surely?

I use Alien Skin Exposure X these days, it has a one button export option which will drop the size of your file to what you want for a lot of the different networks. I use that rather than go onto the CC monthly payment demanded by Adobe for Photoshop.

To use paint just right click on the image and open with paint. Then there is a button to resize. From memory you can resize by pixels or a percent then just save the image.

If on windows. Install image resizer.
Right click - resize.
Simple as that.

If on linux already installed. Right click resize
Simple as that

On Mac Os . Already installed click resize.
No.nned to install cumbersome aps just to resize images.

Android install image resizer and the same, but the GUI is much more cumbersome

Ps i am bandwidth restricted and cannot view images over 400k or so. Any more take far too long and i cancel and ignore that thread from then on.
Same applies to.embedded images bigger than 800x600

Thanks Ken for the above information,

I downloaded 'Image Resizer for Windows' just now and did a test using the 'Test Forum'

Interesting results.
