My Cedrus with Koji
So this is a Cedrus I have owned for a few months that I thought to be the perfect candidate for a workshop tree with Koji. It was purchased from padre Pio and has had nothing done to it from me until today.
I seen two opportunities with it and was firstly after some thoughts on wether I kept it the large tree or worked the first branch into a small tree. Koji asked me which I preferred and I said let's go with the large tree and that way if we change our minds we can always revert back to the small option.
Here is the tree before we started. I was then instructed to wire everything up with the exception of the apex and that first left branch. We discussed that these two may make great Jin. After styling the tree with the larger option I was happy to sacrifice the first branch as Jin also and ended up with this tree out of it. We discussed a lot option for later and Koji suggested a shallow round pot
This was my first experience with a workshop from an international professional and I absolutely loved it. If anybody is hesitating to go to one in the future my suggestion would be to go.
I will try and keep this updated.

This is awesome. I love the end result and find it hard to believe this was achieved in one Worksop. Well done

Re: My Cedrus with Koji
Great outcome as previously said hard to believe it was achieved in one workshop if I were to do this with no guidance it would take me weeks hahaha after seeing this I'm definitely booking in for future workshops. May I ask what type of cedar?

'Tis a lovely tree in photos, and an even better one in the bark.
Nice work Squizz and I totally agree, everyone should do a workshop with someone like Koji at any opportunity when they arise. They are very well worth it and you learn so much from them.

Outstanding. It truly looks awesome. Look forward to seeing it potted up, great job - I'm sure you learnt plenty and you came away with a tree to be proud of... Win/win!

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Cheers bodhi
I was of the understanding that atlantica was more blueish. This looks a lot like a libani that I have labelled at home. What is your understanding of the Atlantica characteristics?

Re: My Cedrus with Koji
Hi squizzy
It's a cedrus libani. I grew those 12 years ago and swapped a few with Dominic last year. Good to see them go to someone who appreciates them.
Regards
Tien

Thanks Tien.
I should have picked that. It looks a lot like your cedars.
12 years old too. It's already got some age then.
