Nominations for workshops are flowing in thick and fast.

Just advising, we also have a lot more room this year for observers for workshops.
Please register your interest via email.

If you are a lender, donor, or volunteer - make sure you get your nomination for a workshop to me.
If you are a club member - please talk to your club executive about being nominated.

Bonsai Week is brought to you by the ACT Government and the Bonsai Trust Fund. All workshops are free of charge.

Hi Everyone

Just thought I would let you know we will be auctioning additional workshop spaces with both Carlos and Yannick at the Friday night gala cocktail evening.
These workshops will be small and exclusive, and will be conducted on the Saturday and Sunday of Bonsai Week.

If you are keen to bid for a spot, make sure you have some material to bring and can stay on the Saturday or Sunday.
This is a great opportunity for people who do not fall into the lender/donor/volunteer/ or club nominated categories.

See you at Bonsai Week!
Who is coming?

Cheers
Leigh

Hi Everyone

Just a reminder about nominations for workshops.
Nominations close at the end of this month.

Don't forget, if you don't fit into any of these categories, we will be auctioning workshop spaces with Yannick and Carlos at the Friday night Gala Cocktail Party (for the Saturday and Sunday).

Nominations for Master-Classes

We will be conducting 3 Master-Classes with both Carlos and Yannick.

Nominations are now being accepted via email to: leigh.taafe@act.gov.au

Thursday Club Artist Master-Class:
Australian Bonsai Clubs who are members of either or both the AABC or BFA will be able to nominate 2 artists from their club to participate in this Master-Class. For more info, get your club to contact me.

Saturday Lender/Donor Master-Class:
Any Lender or Donor of bonsai to the NBPCA are eligible to nominate for this class, please email me directly.

Sunday Volunteer Master-Class:
Any Volunteer of the NBPCA is eligible to nominate for this class, please email me directly.

There are 8 participant positions available for each Master-Class. There is no fee for the Master-Class, however, you must bring all of your own materials and tools.
Each master-class will be a half day with each of Carlos and Yannick (lunch in between). Participants will require 2 x suitable trees to work on.

Selection of participants will be random and fair, however, precedence will be given to nominees who were not involved in any previous year's bonsai week master-classes.
Nominations are not restricted to new nominees, if you participated last year, we will still accept your nomination.

Nominations for observing are open to anyone.

Don't miss out on this great opportunity to work with two of the best emerging international bonsai stars.

Hello,

will there be an opportunity for those who are coming to purchase pots from potters who have their wares on display ? Or is this something that should be dealt with prior to ensure any additional commission or undue fees ?

Forgive me for being blunt, but there is no really other way to phrase my question.

Cheers

Hi David

All potters involved will be offered an arrangement with the Curatoreum Gift Shop for an avenue to sell their wares during Bonsai Week. This arrangement, if taken up by any potter, will be between that potter and the gift shop. Neither the Arboretum nor the NBPCA will be part of the arrangement.

It is entirely up to the potter to make these arrangements.

Hope this helps.

Is there an exhibition/sales open to the public day for country people to come for a day to look at and buy maybe? - some of us are not eligible and or are beginners who do not belong to clubs (because there are none within 100s of klm) LOL
I could be misunderstanding how this works so please do correct me if I am wrong in thinking it is for club members and volunteers only..

Hi Sue,

This is an annual celebration of bonsai at the National Arboretum, Canberra....the home of the NBPCA! As such it is open to all and everybody is made very welcome. If you were to go to one show per year, this is it! Entry to the Arboretum and to the bonsai exhibitions is always free, as are a lot of the demos.
There are no sales tables, but as Leigh has said, the potters can sell through the Arboretum Gift Shop if they so desire. I'm sure many other bonsai related items also change hands.
Hopefully you'll make it.

Cheers, Pat

If you check the schedule on page one you'll see that there are guided tours and demonstrations each day. Those are for any visitors of any experience. Just visiting the national collection is great but a guided tour with the curator is an even better bonus so worth getting there during Bonsai Week if you can.
You will also see that Friday has a couple of extra demonstrations by the visiting experts which are open to anyone, though there's usually a cost for the evening session.

The workshops are really an added bonus - designed to try to lift the skills of local bonsai growers and add new ideas and techniques into the Australian bonsai scene.
