Here is a tree collected on Jan. 15 at Bombala ( should be guidance for you Watto ) , on a cool day . Defoliated and a couple of large roots removed . Potted into a large tub with high scoria content in the mix . Buds are just beginning to swell .

I've just removed an airlayer from a Chinese elm. Is it a good idea to defoliate it as well. Will it help.

I don’t defoliated Chinese Elm at all . Removing some foliage , by trimming ,may be advisable .
