Re: Am I a Potaholic?
A small fraction of the pots from my collection that's getting a little out of hand now.
A Tongrae korean pot i picked up cheap in Kyoto
Some Mame pots also picked up in Kyoto. Hand for size referance
A nice little Suishoen unglazed pot i also picked up cheaply from Kyoto trip
Teal green Yamafusa oval. The green is very subtle but picks out nicely in the light
Really like this Yamaaki shallow rectangle. Not sure i would call it patina but it's showing a little bit of age though it's certainly a modern pot.
I have a Terahata Mazan pot that once held an Azalea at Kunio Kobayashi's nursery, and i have the photo of the pot with the tree in it, but it stays safely out of harm's way.

Wow Dervish ... lovely pots and this newbie is even taken by some of the boxes in which the pots arrived! Call me superficial!Dervish wrote:and still adding pots to my collection...
I also like Tim's Teal Yamafusa on this page too.
Thanks for posting.
Cheers,
Mark

Beaut pots Tim and Dervish
Watto I found a chop that looks similar to one of the ones on your crab pot.
Bizan.... what do you think?
I've been photographing chops and trying to identify them...something tells me it's going to take the rest of my life!

Re: Am I a Potaholic?
I've opened a door that can't be closed now sorry!
Nothing on those beautiful nakawatari pots above but a couple more from my collection
Couple more minis from Japan
Latest addition, an uncommon glaze colour by Koyo
Terahata Mazan that used to be at Kunio Kobayashi's nursery (photo with the azalea it held at the nursery)

Re: Am I a Potaholic?
I thought i had found the correct chop for you pot Watto. Very close to a Bizan chop, a Joshu Shozan chop and Reihoh Shouzan chop but isn't quite any of them

Re: Am I a Potaholic?
Had time to have a look at Watto's mystery chops....
First one is no problem - Tokoname Shibakatsu, by Mr. Shibata Shouichi. Second one is not Tokoname, so a little unfamiliar to me, but a bit of detective work..... Seems Mel had the translation of the chop correct - Fujiyama (藤山), however this is the name of the kiln chop. The potter's real name is Mr. Fujimaki Mitsuo (藤巻満佐男). Seems he is a member of the The Yokohama Guild (横浜逸品会), and many of his pots can still be purchased. The Yokohama Guild focuses on small pots, and looks like carved crab pots is Fujiyama's specialty - though they are not always crab pots:

Re: Am I a Potaholic?
Another from my collection, pot with separated water tray. It simply as a sticker 'made in Japan' and an item number presumably for ordering purposes on the bottom so I've no details about which potter made it but an interesting style i don't see regularly all the same
