Re: YVBS SHOW 2018
Yes, please feel free to drop-in and see the YVBS show. You'll see some wonderful bonsai, interesting demonstrations and of course, enjoy a chat with a friendly bunch of folk. Indeed, the reason I joined the YVBS was the friendly members and their willingness to pass on knowledge - all the while smiling and laughing too.
There will be a range of bonsai on display. Beautiful specimens from experienced growers along with trees from newer members showing their trees progress too.
When I started in Bonsai a few years back - I was inspired by some of the amazing trees at various shows (and of course online) but somewhat daunted, thinking: "How can I achieve that?"
It is hoped that a combination of well curated, wonderfully artistic specimens combined with a range of pre-bonsai and intermediate samples, will show people that this is a wonderful hobby; a pastime that we can enjoy and continue to learn at whatever stage we are at.
So come along in June! Enjoy a day or two in the beautiful Yarra Valley.
Cheers,
Mark

There will be a demonstration by Tien from Bonsai Sensation https://www.facebook.com/Bonsai-sensati ... 972251787/. He will also have stock for sale.
Lara Telford, an Ikebana expert https://www.facebook.com/lara.telford.3 will introduce you to her art
lots of goodies from members who pass on some of their Bonsai related items
Bonsai Roots https://www.facebook.com/BonsaiRoots2015/ will provide soil, soil mixes, orchiata and orchid pots, very popular for growing on stock.
Of course, not to forget the Bonsai display and kids workshop - so much to do and see over the two days - don't miss out, bring the whole family and friends

Re: YVBS SHOW 2018
Here's a bit of fun for future consideration.
Fun for the kids - even better for adults.
Again - it will not be at YVBS not this year but one for the future perhaps .... if the idea ever took hold in Legoland. Very cool.
Not this year but maybe in future years ... Bonsai Lego!! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/adc4177 ... c4dbf3fda6Marlene wrote:..... Of course, not to forget .... kids workshop...

Hi Alan, it's looking really good, there should be many interesting trees on display. Members are sending in tree profiles to choose from.

Re: YVBS SHOW 2018
Hi Alan,
I saw some of the trees being worked on today when I was at the YVBS workshop.
There are some novice trees (I think my category is 'Ultra-Novice'!!!) but there are some really lovely trees going to be displayed.
It will be well worth the effort of a visit. Just make sure you say something encouraging about my two trees!!!

Re: YVBS SHOW 2018
Hi ALL
If you'd like to see The Treemans 'Juniperus Procumbens' (viewtopic.php?f=131&t=25700) in the flesh .... you've got to come to YVBS BONSAI SHOW on the 23rd or 24th June .... or both days(!) .... because you couldn't get enough of the great Trees on display and all the other great offerings over the two days!
.... and don't forget some 'cause there's plenty to buy too
Have a look at the Melway and you'll see you're in 'the premier wine country' .... so, bring some friends along too and go for a wine tasting in one or more of the nearby wineries
Hope to see you at our SHOW - cheers

Re: YVBS SHOW 2018
Hi Everyone,
Planning for the show is coming along wonderfully well, there will be a wide variety of lovey trees. I encourage anyone to visit on either day. Enjoy the Bonsai and the company of friendly people all with a common interest Bonsai and indeed, Ikebana.
As someone relatively new to the hobby, I am really looking forward to the show... to both learn from the work of others and be inspired by what I may be able to achieve in future.
Make a day of it! As JR_J notes previously in this thread, there are plenty of attractions nearby too.
Come along, say hi and enjoy the show.

Hi Tracey .... I look forward to catching up at the YVBS show ... I am sure there are more Murrumbung pots destined for my collection!MadPotter wrote: Tracey (aka MadPotter)
Out of interest - on the name Murrumbung Studio... is it inspired from an Aboriginal word meaning 'very pleasant'? If so, it's quite an apt name for your studio that deals in pleasantness.
Cheers,
Mark

Murrumbung Studio is named after the road we are on - Murrumbung Road. I googled the word some time ago and got the result that it was aboriginal for 'good resting place' or just 'resting place'. Not sure if the meaning is correct and being so busy at the moment it doesn't FEEL like a resting place!!!
I will have some pots at the show, yes, so I should see you there! We can ramble together.

Just thought I would include a pic of a raffle prize pot that will be at the Show this weekend.
Hopefully it gets a bit of interest!
