Elm Clump Ground Layer
After acquiring this elm a few years ago i always felt it could do with a ground layer to create a nice compact multi trunk / clump style tree.
Last October it was ground layered and i managed to separate and pot the layer this weekend.
Overall i am pleased with the results so far and cant wait to see what the next few seasons bring.

Good idea + good skills = Great result.
Needless to say, you have improved this tree, I think it’s going to be a fantastic clump.

Hi Iliya
To quote famous philosopher ; "good thinking 99"
I have no experience with these elms but would like to know will the base throw out shoots??
Is it a 2 for 1 or does the lower trunk and roots have no viable buds to grow?
cheers

Yeah, I like this a lot. Kept the best bits, got rid of the rest and the future looks bright. Well done.

The base after being cut will push new shoots as they back bud profusely.robb63 wrote:Hi Iliya
