I have just wired my Integrifolio for the first time. How long before the branches set so I should remove the wire. I am in Western Sydney.
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Banksia integrifolio advice
Usually 6-8 weeks. However there are variables how tight you have wired it and also size of the wire. Larger wire takes longer to bite in than smaller gauge wire. Also wire will be tighter on bends. Monitor after 4-5 weeks to ensure wire doesn’t bite in.

Re: Banksia integrifolio advice
This is another one of those questions where the answer has to be 'It depends'
Many more factors than the couple Kirky has already mentioned:
How old the branch is - young, fresh shoots are usually set in just a few weeks. Thick, older branches and trunks can take much longer.
Fast growing trees set far quicker than poorly cared for slower trees.
Time of year - quicker to set in the growing season (now for banksia) than when dormant.
There's probably more that I can't think of now and these seem to apply generally to all species. Best advice is to leave the wires until you can see any part digging into the bark then remove. In my experience that's usually more than enough but if you enjoy wiring you could remove the wire every few weeks, keep a log of what happens and report back.

Re: Banksia integrifolio advice
Thank you both for your advice. I'm only a beginner and appreciate it.
They are all young branches, I'll keep an eye on them.
