The impression here is of a tree twisted and sculpted by many years of hardship in the wild. The reality comes close, as the tree was dug up from a construction site, aged approx. 30 years. From 2002 onwards it was styled as a bonsai, which involved extensive carving. Two artists worked on this tree, achieving an outstanding example of the art of bonsai.
