Purchased by the current owner in 1985 with three trunks. Between 1985 and 1999 two of the three trunks were removed and the remaining one was progressively trained and thickened. In 1999 it underwent a major overhaul of all the branches and foliage to emphasize the lovely flowing movement of the trunk. Japanese red pines are not as vigorous nor as widely used as the Japanese black pine so to see such a wonderful, old looking Red pine bonsai in Australia is a credit to the artist.
