Angophora Costata

Angophora Costata
Smooth-barked apple. This species is neither an apple nor a true gum tree, but is related to the Eucalyptus. Grown from nursery stock in Victoria and over 50 years old, this tree is 1.40 m. high. As such it belongs to the “Imperial” category of bonsai. It has been a well known tree in Victoria for many years and was included in a book on bonsai in the 1990s. It is very reminiscent of the tree in the wild. The artist is one of Australia’s best known bonsai artists with over 50 years of experience, who is particularly skilled in the growing of native bonsai.
