Cheers Mark, Watto and Sonya.
There are no other survivors, sadly. I'm happy that I was able to get this one over the hump. As for putting it on display, it's way too big and heavy for me to shift it far. Hubby built the wheels for it, but that's only so I can move it around to catch the sun, (and so he doesn't have to lift it!)

Re: [FREE] Brisbane urban yamadori Murraya
Update on the Murraya. Yesterday I was lucky enough to get Tony Bebb over to help me repot this and another biggun.
It had some nice fine roots growing through the bottom three quarters of the mix, but not through the top, where the mix was much coarser for some reason. No idea why that happened, but anyway, it's fit and healthy. Probably won't need another repot for three or four years, says Tony!
I have a few places that need to be carved out still...will do that one day!
Cat is there for scale. She likes to sharpen her claws on this tree. Thought I'd better add a better lit version... sans cat

Lucky you! We had Tony in Adelaide last year pre-covid for some workshops and demos. Thoroughly enjoyed his visit.melbrackstone wrote: ↑September 2nd, 2020, 4:38 pm Yesterday I was lucky enough to get Tony Bebb over to help me repot this and another biggun.

Thanks Ryceman, it's gratifying to have kept it alive and growing for the past 4 years! Hopefully it'll continue for many years in the future.

Thanks Terry. Yes I'm lucky Tony lives nearby, and since he's confined to the country I made the most of his strength....lol.
Weird that this post needs to have approval for a reply??? I just had an email now to say you'd commented, but your comment wasn't visible when I thanked Ryceman! Weird...

I would love to see the progress of your murrayas. I've got about 8 i've collected and have no idea how to style them.

Cheers Watto, I can't take this to a carving class, so might have to ask Tony Bebb to run one here. Seriously, I have no idea what to do with it!

Oh Mel.... Such genius trees. This is what I aspire to, but I'll need at least another 70 years...
Thanks for posting,

Re: [FREE] Brisbane urban yamadori Murraya
We have to start heritage trees that can be worked on by later generations Gavin!!!
All these trees are from Chinese Penjing sites...I keep saving pics whenever I see one I like.

Mel, I've just decided not to die. I'm damned if I'm going to let anyone else mess my trees up differently to the way I intend to mess them up...
