Re: Looking to buy some Scots pine seeds
Just remember that pine seed is a prohibited import now to prevent a couple of diseases that we don't already have from coming in. Pine seed won't get through quarantine if they see it so best to look for local sellers.

Re: Looking to buy some Scots pine seeds
I took a punt on some red and black seeds from flea-bay from a local seller so will need to see how they go but could not fine any Scots: I might need to relocate a few fallen cones in Autumn...

Re: Looking to buy some Scots pine seeds
If you find an Australian seller please update the thread as I have run into the same issue. Would really love to increase my Scots pine collection. Only have one tree, although it does struggle in the Sydney summer.

That would be amazing; more than happy to cover your postage costs if you PM with your email address?

Re: Looking to buy some Scots pine seeds
I went down and had a look at the scotty. There are probably 2-3 dozen cones that will ripen in summer. But all of last seasons have opened and lost all their seed. So you will have to wait a few months. I vageuly remember the tree is some kind of cultivar with shortish needles, but might be wrong. I planted it out about 15 years ago to fatten up a bit, and now its about 15 feet tall, and home to at least 5 finch families, a handful of paper wasps and the odd black snake.
We're also in drought at the moment so will be anyone's guess how viable the seed will be.
