hey people!
having learned so much over the past year i feel i am ready to start tackling some mature bonsai stock or pre-styled bonsai. looking for trident maples or Japanese maples if possible. if anyone has any they want to offload please PM me

haha ur the prunus man! hehe
have so many prunus and malus and a few elms but and some great quince and a wisteria but i wanna start creating some old looking gnarled trees. might have to head to rays to see what he has

Would that be one of Ray's Hokkaido "strong" variety?
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Leong at Bonsai South normally maintains a selection of tridents of reasonable girth. You might not find what you want this week and in a fortnight have too many choices. Definitely worth a go if what you are after is a good solid trunk. In many of his trees they have been allowed to grow so while they are 40-50 cm high most branches are going straight up and well past the manipulative stage. It is a case of removal and regrow... but you have the trunk. Check it out....
