Each year my back reminds me that larger bonsai are not so much fun any more so I've been downsizing - in size not in numbers. This ficus rubiginosa was grown from seed collected at Burnley school of hort in Melbourne some time in the 1980s.
It started out as 2 seedlings with roots entwined to hold them close.
They were grown in larger containers and eventually spent several years in a polystyrene fruit box. Needless to say they grow and grew. The trunks fused well and its hard to spot the union now.
Unfortunately, as the trunks thickened the space between the trunks gradually disappeared and now that 2nd trunk is a large branch on the right side.
Trimming has not been as regular as it should be for a couple of years so branches are overgrown and leaves are large but should not take too long to recover good structure.
Asking $3,300.
Unfortunately this one is too big to post so pick up from Yackandandah in North East Vic or some other delivery option by buyer.
