Clero

Post by DavidWilloughby »

Hi all,

to keep the progression going of this tree, I thought I would start up this thread as a continuation from here viewtopic.php?f=151&t=14749

Here is some photos of work I have recently done to it. I was shocked that in late Summer, early Autumn it gave me my first flower.

Clero 7 Aug 2016 A.jpg

Clero 7 Aug 2016 B.jpg
halfway through defoliation

rewired and where it sits now.

Very happy with its progress and will update it again once it leaves out. It is due a repot at anytime now too, which will enable to me to repot it again late summer.

Cheers

David

Hi David,
This is magnificent. The work that you have done shows. The wiring is spot on.
Are you finding that with increased ramification that the internode length shortens?
Please keep posting updates!
Cheers,

lovely work.
I googled Clero and can't seem to find anything remotely near the leaf shape relating to Clero.
Not a negative just want to see what the species is like.
I have something (Things) with close matching foliage that have no names is all.

This is a really nice tree. And also the reason I've started so many. I found that they bulge alot where branches come out, even when only having one shoot. Do you have any tips in that respect?

Thanks,
Nigel

Top job David! Great to have seen this tree develop over these last few years and come to be such a high level tree.

Great progression and top job on the wiring - really took it from 'quite nice' to 'really, very good indeed'.

Hi all,

I am extremely humbled by your kind words and comments.

Symon, the internode length will depend on how much you let them grow. I try to get in early to keep it compact. If i get it early I can pinch it otherwise scissors it the way to do.

Nigel, like any species that throw out many shoots from one area, select the best and remove the rest.

Here is a front and side shot from today as an update.
Clero 27 December 2016 A.jpg
*front view
Clero 27 December 2016 B.jpg
*side view

It is in desperate need of a repot that I will be looking at this week and a possible second defoliation come late January. Will update again once done.

Any thoughts, comments, critiques are most welcomed.

Cheers

David

Hi all,

A quick update on this thread,

I have yet to repot it, but will at the end of Feb then keep it moist. With the weather we're having of late, this needs constant work with the new growth. I usually trim the new growth to 2 pairs or trim to maintain shape.

I will update it once I do get around to repotting it soon.

Cheers
