Some of my trees and setup

Bit more Autumn change . This maple I cannot remember the variety . It's spring growth is a deep red that lasts most of spring. Its also on its own roots so no graft . The down side is it HATES the heat and hot wind and really HATES a full defoliation, I learnt the hard way so I partial leaf cut or half defoliate at best and ramification and budding is selective at best . I tolerate it because its got a great nebari , that deep red spring growth and the fact its on its own roots .

Quite a wet july up my way with 138mm recorded. 80%of trees repotted. Im going around adding a marker to some unusual garden maples and dwarf cherries for airlayers come spring.

Matthew your collection amazes me every time I see it and cant wait for the next time. Not to mention your garden, absolutely beautiful and inspiring to say the least. It must take an incredible amount of hard yacka to keep it all as beautiful as you do. Bravo mate.

Things are starting to move here. Still getting light frosts and day temps are 12-15. Hopefully a weak front wednesday night predicted with some rain. I actually had to water a few small pots yestaday. Pic of my large African olive soaking up the morning sun.

current front of garden and entrance to bonsai area. We are very much still down to date on our yearly rainfall average but at least we are fairing a lot better then parts of NSW, QLD. I have about 21 different types of Japanese maples , trident maples, Korean and American hornbean, zelkova, dogwoods, magnolias, liquid ambers, Wisterias , cercis , honey suckles, numerious weeping cherry and apricots , witchhazel, and plenty more ive forgotten.
I needed an outlet when I left the armed forces and bonsai and gardening seemed like a good one at the time.

if you mean the front first tree that's a English elm that belonged to QV . I've had it for several years now just building ramification and watching its bark and nebari mature . I think there is a thread on the forum about it somewhere . Ill get a pic , it's one of those trees that don't seem to photo well at least not with my skills anyway........

Hey Matthew, if it is a QV tree it will be magnificent. Yeah I can't seem to get the photo thing either, or is it that my trees are better in my imagination than reality

Place is still here after last 2 weeks, had a close call but wind direction saved us. I almost lost two trees to the irrigation just getting the edges , my fault for not been paying more attention . Hopefully some cooler temps and rain predicted late this week and early next week . Im still green around most of my garden as im fortunite enough to have some water still.
