A few years ago I tried to get a few cuttings from a Taxus baccata and thankfully there were a couple of successes. I gave some away and sold some, but this one is female and I thought it would look great with the small red berries on it and so I kept it.

In 2019 it was time to move it from the plastic pot into a real bonsai pot

The cricket was boring so to fill in time I gave this tree a trim and some wire as the next stage.
Hopefully I will update the progress over the next 30 or so years.
Looking at tit now I think it is too tall and the straightness of the main trunk line needs "fixing". Opinions are always welcome.

Verrrry nice looking shohin Watto. I agree that the trunk is a little too straight. It may only appear so on photos, but it seems there are several branches coming from the one area. If that is so, could you remove the main straight part of the trunk and use one of the branches as a leader? By doing that you may avert causing a reverse taper problem later on. I don't know anything much about this species, but if they are too slow growing you may want to look for a different solution.

Thanks Raging. One of the really good things about Yew's is that they bud back on old wood (one of the few conifers) so I will take a deep breath and reduce, soon.
