So winter ❄️ hit me and I have been snowed under with other things than bonsai . The world decided that the Snowy mountains was the place to be and this place has gone crazy . Anyway spring is coming and all these crazy people will have to look after themselves because I have other things to do .
A few years ago I took a lot of cuttings of Seiju Elm , some I wired up and a couple I put a little twist in them and had a few small trees like this one .

One of these trees where the twist was , eventually closed up and just looked like an ugly lump half way up the trunk . So I put it into a pond basket and then did a ground layer where the ‘big lump’ was . Today it was snowing so I had time to seperate the layer . For a small tree it now has quite a nice base .

The pot is a bit big but I really wanted to use it for a while .

This one is a berberis . I just repotted it into a PK pot I just scored . It had to be a round pot because I look at it from a different angle depending if it has leaves or not . I find it an awkward tree to look at when it’s deciduous and i am not brave enough to go too radical on it pruning wise because when it’s in leaf , especially in Autumn it looks great . It’s quite chunky for a Berberis .

Thanks Mel .This is the fifth pot that I have had it in . I reduced the height of the tree by about a quarter to suit the pot . I like it at the moment it will be interesting to see it with its Autumn colour.

It wasn’t raining tonight and not a breath of wind so I took the opportunity to take a couple of photos .

That berberis is stunning, Sno.

Beautiful effort mate.

Hey Sno,
That broom! I'm jealous. Did you start it from an airlayer?

Cheers,
