I bought this Dawn Redwood in early 2022 from a regular nursery. It was the 'Ogon' gold variety, grafted onto standard Dawn Redwood. The grafted gold variety had larger, Courser growth, and there was a decent shoot coming from under the graft. I decided to cut back to the graft and let the root stock take over to become a standard.
In winter last year (2023) I gave it a wire to get some movement happening. It's an extremely vigorous grower, I'm definitely going to need to repot again this year. There's dense thick roots starting to circle the bottom of the pot.
The graft point where I cut is healing well and getting close to fully closing.
