Hi Mel' ,very poor colours last spring , I think the Manchurian pears were the best colours here . This tear they will be grouped instead of mixed beds so It should give a better show of colour .

This is another grow bed completed
P1130379.JPG
P1130380.JPG
these are fused trunks with root grafting and infills taking place along with some clump styles and another 60 new trunks in the making . I still have around 100 x 2 year old tridents left to sort out and plant along with all the planter bag material .

Hopefully you'll get a good display next year Ian, and can share it with us. These grow beds of yours are pretty awesome!

Hi Raymond there's a lot of work involved but it has its rewards .

Hi Mel' bound to get a good display with each species in its own bed , its certainly well over due . Considering when the beds were started they were red clay and shale , it's taken plenty of work to transform not only the soil but the rock edging that replaced the timber and sleeper retainers . .

I wish i had a backyard big enough to grow on my trees like this. I can only do a couple at a time. Mostly styro boxes. Nice progress

Hi Stimson , it can be a blessing or a burden , not sure at the moment . The grow beds

development /sale stock of all configurations laying around the yard plus numerous others in planter bags

. At the moment its a burden as I don't have the time nor the physical ability to look after it all .

Hi KIRKY , time pays off along with a bit of effort and enthusiasm . I hate that dirty four letter "time" there's either not enough or its too long .

Times running out for this little black duck so I thought I had better get my act together and hack these back for a mid season prune

Grow bed 1

Grow bed 2 . That lightens the load , 60 % of these will most likely be scrapped reducing the use of 1 Trident grow bed for other species .

This is the result of weeding out the unwanted , couldn't bring myself to toss these to the tip It was potted up last winter and is regularly trimmed during this growing season . Hoping to end up with a large spreading Shohin sized Forest .

The 750mm oval pot is just for training , way too heavy for the finished product . All up it was started with 48 trunks .

Not sure what is wrong with us Ian, this being unable/unwilling to throw cuttings away. I do the same thing even when I am being determined to throw them out, I will go back later to collect them from the green waste bin. :palm:
Looking good, I was envisioning a flat tray or slab too. Going to be a very sweet little? 48 tree forest.
Cheers
Kirky
