Southern Morton Bay

I mentioned these trees in a previous thread. They are amazing trees but evn more amazing that they are growing on top of a hill at Beechworth in North East Victoria: Altitude about 500m, Winter temps down to 7 below most winters and occasional snow.
They appear to be Morton Bay figs and have been planted in the garden of a long gone house. Just a few trees left in the middle of a cow paddock.

The largest tree is about 3m diameter at shoulder height. I measured the root spread at 36m across

some of those buttress roots are 1m out of the ground and rise to shoulder height at the trunk.

yeah deffinitly a moreton bay there every where up here weird their thriving down there

Awsome tree Shibui, 8-) I often wonder If anyone's come close to replicating the root systems of those bigguns,maybe aligning the roots and trying fusion...I dunno...has anyone seen anything on a bench with THAT style of root formation?....Dog.
