Should i buy this Platanus (plane tree)
Hello dear friends, i would like to hear your comments about this Platanus which i found in a nursery in here. Its not a small one but a middle size tree. The thing is there are only few examples of bonsai of platanus on internet and unfortunately i have read that to reduce its leaves takes too much time. The diameter of nebari is about 16 - 18 cm. What do you say my friends? Should i have this beautiful tree or not a good one for an potensai??? Thanks..

Hi Gurbuz
I think the trunk look's very nice & some time's we need to take on something that is harder than most would, so why not give it a go if you like what you see just keep us posted with the progress

If you see something in it that you like, go for it.
If not, don't, if you do it would be just another tree taking up space on the benches.

Hi gurbuz,
The platanus you have found looks like a real opportunity provided it has enough roots to survive. That is the main thing - whether you can take it out of the pot prior to purchase to see if it is good quality.
Good Luck dude,

I'd definitely go for it mate. It looks like a lovely tree, especially that nice hollow. Worth a go, I'd say.
Funilly enough I have been wondering about Platanus as bonsais this week as well. Around the streets near where I work there are lots of suckers growing around the big ones. I'm considering bringing in a pot to work and going on a little raid!

Re: Should i buy this Platanus (plane tree)
Thanks to all of you, my friends.. I also really like this tree and want to buy it (if the owner of the nursery will make a good discount) In here (Turkey) most of the nurseries have no idea about "Bonsai" and they mostly advice to buy a good looking but no potential of trees.. And when you ask the price of some bad looking (for them) but good potential tree, they understand that we are looking for something different and they tell a higher price! So, i will go to that nursery again and ask for good discount because probably they can not sell this tree to a customer who does not aim to turn it into a bonsai..
So my friends, i hope i can buy and keep sharing the steps of this beautiful tree... Thanks for comments and please keep writing if you have some more comments, all comments are high valued and important for me.
Have a good day to all..

Hi Gürbüz,
That sounds like a very interesting way of acquiring trees
Good luck with tree. And please keep us updated on how you go.
( You might like to start your own bonsai nursery one day. )
Cheers.

Love the trunk - just not sure how well the leaves will reduce.
