That is true of all the substrates we use as soil mixes, none are fertilisers in their own rite. Which is what was claimed of coco peat.

Studies by the Lawn keepers associations,( Bowling and Golf course keepers) found that it will cause ph problems if used for prolonged periods.

When pointed out that Bonsai are repotted frequently, this issue was deemed not to be a problem.

Coco Peat is and Coco Coir are the same thing. Coir peat is obtain from a coconut coir with some addition of worm juice, nutrients. It is the best growing media for garden. Spot on, so beware if you leave your plants sitting for prolonged periods in big boxes full of old or recycled mix, (referring to recent post about what we do with our old potting mix).

That's good to know.
Does it cause high or low pH?
And prolonged periods as in a year? Or a few years? I guess that may vary with conditions too.
