I see you're in Brisbane, so that would make it a good time to repot for most of the year, but really it depends on what you're repotting I suppose?

Fig in warm weather when the trees are growing so for you up there all year unless you are on the tablelands.
I cannot grow desert rose so can't comment but would also assume warm weather when the tree is actually growing.

I just looked up desert rose to see what they look like, beautiful flowers very similar to azaleas, I'd love to see some pictures as your plant progresses
