Homemade stackable sieves

Post by BlamJams »

Got a 1/4 cube of scoria from local garden center and didn't really like the options for sifting into bonsai-friendly sizes.
Realised I could print my own sieves so that's what I did!
Found a stackable design and altered it to suit.
Used a 270mm square 5mm & 8mm sift.
Printing a couple smaller ones to complement these.

Very happy with the result - just did some late night sifting of about 100 liters, sifted in 20ish minutes (by hand).

Happy to link to the design if anyone else is interested. They can be made to print at any size really easily.

Awesome! I'm in the lookout for some sieves too, or some mesh to make some.
Don't have a 3D printer unfortunately.

 Could you post the link to print design please. I sift a lot of pumice and larger sieves would make the whole process a lot quicker

You can open the SCAD file in an app called OpenSCAD and configure your own sizes.
I'm happy to set up and export a printable model if you'd like.
