Rooting hormone/powder?
Does anyone sprinkle a little of this through their potting mixture while repotting their trees?

I haven't done it myself. I just thought it may help with the growth of fresh roots faster thats all.bodhidharma wrote:Honestly, i can see no need to do this

Re: Rooting hormone/powder?
Hi Craig, I'm not sure there would be any point. As far as I know, the powder / gel needs to come into direct contact with the vascular tissue (Cambium) - the area responsible for generating new growth cells. Having said that, the more I think about it, given that the powder converts into a soluble form, it may actually be doable. Very interesting question mate. I think Joel could better answer this. Where are you Joel my gangly spindly old friend??

Re: Rooting hormone/powder?
Hi Craig
Rooting hormone is Auxin, the same stuff found in Super thrive, Seasol and Plant starter. It is in high doses when used as a rooting hormone in cuttings it is applied to stem tissue. If used at the same dose on roots it can/will kill them and/or the tree.
People have and do sprinkle rooting hormone powder in the soil when repotting. I would not recommend it as the dose of Auxin that should be used is very specific so I would stick with what the chemists have made to do the job in Seasol Super thrive or plant starter.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
