not a bad idea, this would give the judges a difinative post to judge as well as the process and comments made along the way.

i think if this were the way, it should be locked for only bretts and the poster only with access.

Hey Aaron can you clarify what Idea it is you like?
To keep the threads going as they are now and put a finished entry thread at the end or to Have a controlled thread for only the contestant and the judges and advice is given by PM by everyone else?

I thought Pup would have been keen on the PM idea so I am a little confused?

The issue I would have with the threads continuing as they are (even with a finished thread later) is that the Judges are understandably not keen on trying to be heard above the others.
I believe if the threads are to continue how they are and we submit a finished thread then the judges will withdraw from mentoring through the year :(
Some might be happy to just get on with the job without much discussion and not want to re-post all the information again away from all the chit chat. I think we should give those people a place to build up their information for the duration of the contest not throw it all together at the end!

If we go by the PM method there is also the option for members to post their entries in the discussion part of the contest area if they so wish.
So if anyone wants open discussion on their entry then they post in the discussion area with their entry for general discussion or a certain question. Anyone that wants to comment on an entry and can't see a discussion thread for it then they PM with anything they want to say. Maybe there is something they want to bring to the entrants attention? Or you want to congratulate them on a great choice Then PM them! It is no harder than posting on the forum!
Although the judges would not be exempt from posting in the discussion area they would be free to ignore the lunch time chatter of the students if they so wish.
Pretty simple really and is very close to the original concept.
This leaves the entry thread clean with only the judges and the entrant posting. Yet if some one does a sketch for them or gives advice by PM or in the discussion area then they are able to bring this forward to their controlled thread if they like.
But clutter your thread up and the judges may get bored reading all your dribble and mark accordingly ;)

There is great info being put forward by the members and I don't want that to stop. Although I feel the advice and guidance of the three experts we have chosen as more important and needs to be protected.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Is it possible to withdraw an entry before cut-off date?

Post by kvan64 »

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to withdraw an entry before 31st of December. E.g. if after submitted the entry, I found the entry is more suited for a different style then literati and I want to keep it as that style. Can I withdraw it and submit another?
Thanks
Edit: 31st of November :)

Yes, as long as you show us that during the submission month of November. Then with your original entry post a note saying it is withdrawn.
Then make no more additions to what is already there. Cheers Pup ;)

Jarrod wrote:Why dont we just let the entrants pull together the information at the end of the comp in a new thread titled, "finished tree - BLAH".

This can then be the final post that contains all relevant information and steps to getting to the final vision? That way all the information is stored in case others wish to read it.
I like this idea myself. Unnecessary writings can be left out to cause the judges less distraction from the main task. Lets all ruminate on this meanwhile.
