i collected this fig from a wall about 2 years ago it has been in this pot for most of that time, it is hardly a "aged"tree but does fit this category better than the new stock.
i have been training it downwards for about a year now and am continually reducing the leaves to lengthen the growth. the leaves have reduced nicely in size too, it is budding half way down the trunk and i am thinking of introducing a pad of growth there, we shall see
i look forward to your imput and advice over the length of the competition.

thank you thank you thank you
should be really nice with a little more length in the main feeder and some growth
baby steps as they say
yer the pot has grown on me, it is large for the tree but with the simplicity of the figs roots it has plenty of growing room and i recently built the stand and stained it with some "black japan" so i could really cascade it without going to a deep pot

Alexgee I am glad that you said the pot is too big. At the moment that is really hard not to see first and, seeing as we are only just starting. I did not see a problem.
However unless this tree grows at 4 times what it is now then yes a problem.
Cheers

Hi Alex,
I also believe this tree is not a Benj, maybe a PJ, but there are more experinced people than me to give you an ID. I like this tree and would like to see a photo of it defoliated if you have any. Are you creating difficulties for yourself come repotting time by bending branches through the stand?

I have a feeling the pads should be more horizontal and not around the stand. Nice progress.
