Awesome we have contact. This is an update of my Chaemycyparis as it is nearly judging time. It is still wired up as it takes forever to set into position but i hope to have the wire off by December. It is in its new pot and there has been an angle change and a new jin added (still has to be lime sulphered) and positioning of branches to alleviate the bar branch look that Bretts mentioned. I am learning about Literati and the difficulty of making something so simple look pleasing to the eye. With other styles you have more to work with and can disguise small imperfections. Not so with this style. No wonder it is called .."The Scholars Style'..It takes an enormous amount of adjustment to make it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. One thing out of place and it does not look right.

As Stymie said it is nice to see these updates especially when there is so much change to the intial start, with time this Bunjingi will be very nice.

The lines of movement are very evident, photographs do not always tell the full story, as to how it looks in reality.
So when judging time is upon us we will have to consider this.

Time to update this posting and i am happy to say that i am pleased with the progression of this tree. It has been a simpler journey than my other entrant and, in hindsight, the reason why that is, is that this one(with a little planning and procrastination ) was always going to be a Tree of Simplicity. it lent itself to it . Whereas my other entrant is making me unclutter myself this one has always had the imprint of Literati. All it took for me was to see it. I love this tree and all it needs now is for age to stamp its testimony into it. The colour has come out in its foliage and it has filled out. It is finally starting to fulfill its role as a Literati and i can see its elegance now.

Thank you Bretts. Nothing else to do but post the final shots. A friend came over and taught me how to set up and photoghraph. The experience was awesome and i learnt a tremendous amount in one afternoon. i hope you like the end result.

A blast from the past. This tree won the Literati (Bunjin ) comp so a little update is of the upmost importance to let you know it is still alive and well.
Without a doubt the Literati style is the most difficult style for a tree out of all the styles you can work with. The simple form, to get it right, is the most frustrating, patience testing medium that i have had the pleasure to work with.

Glad you noticed the change Ken. It is one of those trees that if you give it a quick glance it doesnt hold your attention. if you get involved with the tree it becomes quite complex.

Love the new pot! I hope you don't mind but I've done a crude virt of what I see in your Chaemycparis. The trunk is elegant and dainty and I think it in this case less could be more.
