I have seen the steady inflow of entries to this and there are some great trees. For the first time I went to the specific forum and found we are now on our 4Th page of entries  :D
After a walk around the benches the other day I have found a couple of trees that will allow me to by Tony Abbott's words "be a participant but not a competitor"
Cutting it fine with one day to take pics. I think it will be overcast too  :)

Have fun Judges :P

Hi Steven
Some one asked me if there was to be any critique of the entries by the judges? Maybe it scares some people but I for one would welcome it :)
Maybe even the scores released?

G'day Brett,
No formal critique will be made of the submissions and only the scores of the awardees will be made public. As this will be an annual award, we may change things in th future.
Regards,
Steven

Gday Steven again thank you for this.

As this is going to be an annual event, what restrictions will be placed on entrants as to whether, or not they can be reentered, ie place getter cannot be reentered.

Being one of the biggest in number of entries, are there going to be restrictions in that respect.

I have enjoyed this immensely, and look forward to more participation from the contestants on the site, hopefully not just for the competition.

Cheers and again thank you for the opportunity, :D Pup

G'day,

We have uploaded a gallery of all the Category 1 submissions where you can view and rate each tree individually. The gallery can be viewed here.

The judges are currently putting the final touches on the grading sheets and we expect to announce the 9 awardees mid afternoon on Wednesday 7th April.

Thanks very much to all who submitted such excellent examples of Australian native bonsai!

Best regards,

The number and quality of trees entered in the AusBonsai Australian Native Bonsai Awards 2010 was excellent and made the job of judging very difficult. You wish they could all win an award. Category 1 was exceptional and I hope the high standard is maintained and improved year after year. I just hope there are more entries next year in categories 2 and 3.

Generally the level of photography and presentation was also very high, which adds to the overall effect of the tree.

I feel that Australian native bonsai is the winner, along with those who have won the individual prizes.

I am excited to see which trees won in the various categories after the combined vote of the three judges is tallied.

Congratulations to everyone who entered their bonsai, and of course congratulations to the winners.
