The cut was not as hard as the original and there is a bit more refinement left and the new canopy will be smaller. The damage to the tree from the last years weather was extensive. We have had so much rain and cloudy days that some of the growth was very elongated and some patches had died off. Despite me having sprayed it with lime sulphur there also was powdery mildew.
So, al in all, I decided to go hard and rebuild/ build a new tree in effect. It’s also a good time to examine the tree closer and make plans. This is a tree I plan to keep long term, as it is a medium size/weight tree and so hopefully I have years left to work on it.
All the bigger trees will eventually have to be sold/gifted/ donated.
