Have seen this tree in person and it’s an absolute beast, very impressive as are all of mike’s trees
In the blue darkening sky, the moon paints a pine tree.

Latest....
This is definitely a 2 steps forward 1 step back tree.
I finally got the apex where I want it...in the center on the tree.
If you want a good zelkova I believe you need a central leader.
(mind you it started as a trunk chop so to get a branch back to the middle takes many years!!!)
The front branch threatened to take the lead so I had to persuade it to back off.

Looking good - just a question regarding the central apex.

Is this centre just from the front - or literally a central point from all angles?

I like the upright style and will be trying my hand at it.

That's a nice level of ramification. Something I aspire towards in the coming years. I know I'm a good number of years off, but I find seeing pictures in threads like these helps me figure out how to get there.
