Re: Trident from Shibui
Yeah I changed it because it died back and I wanted the good pot for one of my crepe Myrtle. I have a lot of trouble picking a pot for trees, so hard to find one you like that suits the tree. I put it in this one as this was what the crepe Myrtle was in so last year I did a pot swap.

Re: Trident from Shibui
Another 9 months had passed, this one has grown pretty well this year. It is starting to turn autumn colour ever so slightly (the green is paling and some tips are reddening). I will be putting it back in the green glaze pot again this year as I’ve decided the crepe doesn’t suit the colour as much and also needs an oval pot instead.

Good choice, the other pot will look good with the leaf colour when it's green and awesome when it's dressed in autumn finery. Looking good

Re: Trident from Shibui
Repot back into its original green pot today:
I haven’t wired it yet. Just not in the mood today.

Looks much better in that pot IMHO.

Oh just that lower left branch, the smaller buds, it can easily wait until it’s leafed and larger.

Re: Trident from Shibui
It’s doing ok. This is the first year it’s had healthy leaves the whole season (not those weird parachute ones in the beginning, so soil and drainage must be better).
I won’t take a photo because the pot has been overtaken by bloody invasive long grass, the kind that’s hard to remove without taking the entire pots soil with it.
I’ll get a better look at it when it’s bare.

Re: Trident from Shibui
Shibui,
Loving the progression on this tree, has come a fair way
did you graft branches on to points where you want.
I have been told to get a maple done "correct" it's best to graft the branches on.
I myself am going to need to do this to a maple forest i have put together, all long stick with really no internodes down low so I'm kind of forced in to grafting.
