Bunjin/Penjing project - Chinese Tallow
Received this tree which will be my first attempt at both literati and the obscure side of Penjing.
My plan is to hollow out the Rotting deadwood along the trunk line, slam down the existing branches that exist to play with the delicate trunk line.
Pot selection is currently a Samarkand pottery piece as attached but may change depending on how the artistic process progresses through the wiring decisions made.
Any suggestions are welcomed, will post progress as I go

I'm very keen to see where this ends up
Life's too short for boring pots

So far, a fair amount of the branching was dead this is what remains the thicker section heading up is still alive and under the rotting wood was a lot of hard heartwood so I won’t gauge it all out just yet see what I have to work with

Not sure why it keeps turning side ways

Photos seem to revert to the original aspect when posted to Ausbonsai. I shoot in landscape instead of portrait and they stay right side up.
Good luck with the tallow. They seem to have a very open growth habit and long internodes that make it difficult to make a nice tree with dense branches. Might fit in well for literati though.

I'll skip the nerdy explanation, but if you open your photos in something like Photoshop or even Microsoft Paint and do the rotation there it should carry over to Ausbonsai.

I’ll be applying Dennis Vojtillas method of deciduous refinement so hopefully it overcomes this aspectshibui wrote: ↑July 1st, 2020, 7:38 pm Photos seem to revert to the original aspect when posted to Ausbonsai. I shoot in landscape instead of portrait and they stay right side up.

Pulled the trunk line in further and more hollowing out of deadwood.

Geez Fengz - I couldn't 'see' this tree ...right up until your last photo - which looks really interesting. Well played! Very interested to see how you develop this tree.
Tending bonsai teaches me patience.

Thanks a lot MJL I appreciate the feedback, I feel good about this tree like I’m doing it some kind of justice, being that I’m incredibly new to bonsai it’s nice to hear I’m doing something In the right direction
