Re: Autumn 2021 Gallery
Some beautiful trees and colours, very nice to see when my own trees are so plain this year.
The dwarf ginkgo improved further so i moved it inside yesterday to enjoy better than craning my neck to see it on my benches.
Yet another ginkgo, this is a straight species that i'm going to train to a style more akin to a mature ginkgo tree rather than the flame shape i'm doing with all my other ones.
Finally my young 'Katsura' JM is a bit confused right now. I'll be interested to see if it keeps growing through winter or if it does go dormant. It it literally just this one bud that is growing, the rest of the tree is dormant.

Re: Autumn 2021 Gallery
Some lovely colours and trees!
While also far from bonsai as yet, here is my group of trident maples with varying ranges of colours. Yet to pick out individuals for further development and clump the rest as a possible forest setting. Definitely liking the reds but.
One question - is that red colour more likely a trait of that particular tree ( as can be seen some are still green ) or just a product of the surrounding environment and may or may not do it similarly again??

A Japanese maple that currently looks great in the garden.
There are a few other deciduous trees in colour on my blog if you are interested.

Wow Watto, amazing colour!
My only contribution is this hawthorn that decided to put on a display while I was away for the weekend. When I left on Friday it was looking quite modest but when I got back today there were a few more colours.
Matt.

Wow Watto some stunning colour on your maple this year. Do you have a thread for it?

Re: Autumn 2021 Gallery
I thought there was an old thread on this tree but I couldn't find it when I went looking.
If I can't find it I might start a new one as this tree has an interesting history.
Thanks for the kind comments, but I must say best colour in the Japanese maples here I can remember.

Re: Autumn 2021 Gallery
One of my crepes (bought from PeterB) looks ok for colour but the other one dropped leaves a bit early. My small crepe cutting has had reddish purple leaves since going into this small Erin pot so it’s colour is coming along nicely. It’s parent plant is still green with some yellow leaves. Otherwise my grace smoke bush is colouring well though I don’t think it loves being in the cement pot as it’s not growing much.

Another tree with modest colour, but I'll take what I can get this year.

Re: Autumn 2021 Gallery
This is my windswept Crepe Myrtle from above, the colour is pretty reliable on this tree, but VERY early this year.

This is a Chinese Amber
Its had some issues this past growing season with top of the tree on the right dying back
The leaves haven’t coloured as much as past years but it’s something
