Bending chamaecyparis wessilii branches

Bending chamaecyparis wessilii branches

Hi everyone, finally getting settled in the UK. Managed to get a multi trunk chamaecyparis wessilii for a good price. I'm wanting to grow it as a clump style and bend the branches down, but I think I read somewhere that you can't bend chamaecyparis branches below horizontal. Is this the case or can I go ahead. Also is winter a good time to do this.
