I decided it is now warm enough to work on the olives.
The first tree was repotted last spring and responded with a lot of growth.
Looks like it wants to be a clump style bonsai so I have kept a couple of the extra smaller trunks. Some carving today to reduce the visual weight of the short, thick branch on the main trunk and to make the stumps look a bit more natural.
Next it was time to repot this larger single trunk olive. After collection it was just a bare trunk. Branches selected from the shoots and allowed to grow for a year to thicken up a bit. Last year I started to trim the branches to encourage ramification. Apex is still allowed to grow freely to try to heal the large cut near the top of the trunk.
I was hoping it would fit into a neater pot but the root ball is still just a little too large for the 30 cm orchid pots. It has gone back into another poly fruit box. With a bit more reduction of some roots I managed to turn the trunk to the front this time.

Re: Olives
Here are the trunks of the olives. Trying to take Neil’s advice and not spend time and effort on trees that lack interest.

Re: Olives
You should get some good trees out of those.
Don't get too carried away with what style or which parts to keep just yet. They will need at least a year, possibly 2 before the roots will be strong enough for further work so you have plenty of time to consider and plan and seek second opinions.

Re: Olives
Thank for the advice. I’ve just chopped them down to leave a decent amount of trunk and branches. Now to pot them up and see how they respond.
