Howdy all,
I was just wondering if anyone on here has had any success with keeping pines alive long term in less than full sun conditions?
I've got a fairly sizeable part of the yard that gets relatively bright shade and direct afternoon sun for around 3-4 hours and was contemplating putting in a black or red pine or two, buuuut if its a sure bet that they're not going to survive i'll skip it and find something else to plonk in.
Any help would be muchly appreciated
Cheers!

Hi Damien,
I've got several pines, JPB's, radiata and Aleppo, and they are all in a position where they receive only 3-4 hrs of direct sun in winter. I've had some of them for 3 + years and they are still doing well.

If you get direct afternoon sun for 3-4 hours, you don’t have an issue with sunlight. Grow whatever you want
