Cupressus Macrocarpa

Post by Dustbunny »

Hi,

I have a Cupressus Macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress) pre-bonsai. It's 3 years old and really needs to be repotted to a move suitable pot and has never been pruned. It doesn't have it's true scales yet.

My first question is does anyone have any experience with pruning and repotting timing in Australia, especially Vic? I've researched and researched and heard anything from early winter through to Autumn, so.. I'm thoroughly confused :lost:

Also, I noticed a few of these funny bumps on the trunk lower down. Does anyone know what they are? New buds coming? Something more sinister?

Thank you!

Repot now. The bumps are normal in seedling conifers. Disregard them.

Awesome thanks!

For future years what should the tree be doing around time to repot? Growing? Not growing?

And is it OK to prune now too?
