Black pine on rock.

Post by treeman »

I found a specimen (grafted short needle form) with roots on two sides only and decided to plant it on a rock. I had this rock sitting around for years and often thought of putting a black pine onto it. I used plastic spaghetti tie to bind it. A little root splitting was needed but it came together pretty quickly. There was a convenient hole at the base of the tree were I could squeeze in a root like a knuckle graft so when it grows it will help to anchor the tree firmly in place.

Very cool Mike!!!

Though probably not what you're planning, I can imagine this as a space bonsai, root over asteroid, floating through the cosmos ... mainly picture "20220823_155750.jpg".

Might be too expensive to blast into space, maybe I could comp it onto a space image for you???
