So the stump that I repotted on an angle didn't really appreciate the late Autumn repot, but is starting to wake up again so should come back fine. I've readjusted some branches and will go for a windswept look for that one. I'll wait until it looks just a little happier before posting photos.

The second stump still had me stumped ( ) until someone on Facebook suggested removing one of the trunks - that gave me the idea of splitting it into two twin-trunk trees. This stump already had some existing rot in the centre, and the cuts were surprisingly minor, so I'm not too concerned about how this will affect it.
I might reduce the height of things a bit after leaving these to rest for now.

Let me know if you ever want to sell a bogan. Don’t have one in my collection yet.

I cannot grow these, as they seem to suicide on me on every attempt. It's nothing i'm doing wrong...it's them!

I'll probably be getting rid of at least one of these at some point; splitting plants isn't helping in my quest to reduce stock

Carving these should be interesting! I think I'll need to invest in one of those Terrier bits or something - the bits I have now are probably a little on the small side for these. And luckily I have plenty of olives to practice my carving skills on.

My sister-in-law bought a new house a little while ago, with a bougainvillea arch in the back yard. Being a responsible uncle I let her know that they had thorns which wouldn't be ideal for her five-year-old, and that I'd be happy to dig them out for her.

I thought there were two plants, one on each side of the arch, but there ended up being three. The centre one is my clear favourite.

I like the middle one too, the one on the lefts not bad either. All in all a good score.

Here's a quick snap of one of the first stumps. Far from being a bonsai but putting on a good show. I love the leaves on this one - some are green, some are white and some are a mix. I thought it was maybe due to it being two plants that had fused together, but the top part of the stump which has mostly green leaves has some branches that are entirely white.

The other stump that I split in half is going well too. I sold off one part, and the other I've planted in a large tub as a garden plant (with the option to dig it out in a few years if I want to use it for bonsai )

Assuming that the normal leaf colour is green, then the variegated and "white" branches are called sports (please correct me if I am wrong). If these are propagated by cuttings/layering and they remain with those characteristics, then you have some new varieties.

Thanks Terry, from my expert browsing of Wikipedia it sounds like you're spot on. Come pruning time I'll get some cuttings going and see what comes of them.

Looks good, its probably just rewards for being "good" to the sister in law?
