One of my favourite, there are many nice examples out there. Mel what is the future style of your “stick” also please advise how you are caring for your tree, feed / trimming / growing conditions etc... Does it loose its leaves over the cooler month?

I trunk chopped it Susan, and let it grow out again. It's in half day sun, half day shade at the mo, but was under shadecloth for most of the Summer instead of full sun for half the day. I root pruned it last year, and put it into an oversized pot. It's got a dead straight trunk, with no attractive curves, bumps or shapes...What I'm counting on now is some root cuttings that have some interest. Feeding is random, but it's got osmocote to keep it going. As for losing its leaves, no, it's not deciduous, although I have partially defoliated it once...

Thanks Mel, my Wrightia vietnamensis is in full sun during summer with no ill effect from the sun on leaves, it sits in a tray of water all year even though everything I have read on them states not to have them too wet. The Wrightia Religiosa are all still sticks however due to our humid summer this year they have actually doubled in size this year. They too sit in a tray of water all year. I feed with liquid feed but will try the osmocote next year. I find they really don’t grow during winter down here. Next summer will pot them up and wire some shape into them.

I've found they're a bit snappy when I've tried to wire.... but at least they grow back fast...

Will remember to be careful tks Mel. Anyone else growing these beauties have any advice?

It's a ripper tree. I wonder whether it started its life as two or three trees than have melded tougher .... perhaps I am misreading the lines in the lower trunk. It matters not - I am just interested.
