Nice looking trunk. Crepe bark is stunning. :fc: that you get lots of shoots to work with.

Fingers crossed to!
It was about 2.5 Metre “Fleming Indian Summer” In the ground for a fair while
I have left app 500mm tall.
Waiting nervously for new shoots

Wow, beautiful autumn colour. We could never have that colour here in QLD as it is not cold enough in winter :)
Always we hope someone else has the answer.

That looks really nice and all that in less than a year. NeilC, are you able to share your process esp. the type of mix you used and the level to which you cut the roots as I have three CMs I am planning to dig up but they are all tall and lankiy so wanted some guidance.

Hi following as well as the wife wants one gone from a garden bed and its about 5ft, prefer not to kill it, so any tips on the root pruning would be appreciated :wave:

Hi Guys, sorry I have not be on for a few weeks…. I am no expert!
But I just cut the top back to app 1metre, got out a decent rootball.
Then sat it on the bench cut off all the big roots and left all the fine roots.
I had some very open soil mix from chojo in Sassafras.
Potted up crossed my fingers, it was exciting when the shoots came :tu:
I have fertilised all through summer, spring and autumn.
I am so looking forward to working on it this winter, more root work and pruning.
Good luck…they are pretty hardy in Melb so you should be fine
